Service Boot Asphalt Horsebutt

Over the years we have manufactured footwear in nearly every colour of leather imaginable, but for some reason a good grey tone has always been difficult to find.  Grey can easily appear either too warm or too cool depending on the type of dye, tanning process and base leather.  This Asphalt Horsebutt from Italy is a dark, concrete coloured grey that achieves a perfectly balanced tone.  This is a full grain leather taken from the entire rear region of the hide including the Shell layer that is typically processed separately.  In terms of Italian leathers it is heavier than usual, but exemplifies the amazing character and inconsistencies that typically result from the vegetable tanning process in this region.
