Split Horsebutt

We are always on the search for new and innovative materials to incorporate into our products.  The Split Horsebutt from Drop Three perfectly exemplifies the unique character that can catch our eye during the sourcing process.  This leather undergoes a treatment at the tannery where the top layer is shaved down across the entire surface of the butt area. The result is an unusual texture with both smooth and nappy portions visible across the same hide.  This inconsistency highlights the natural characteristics of Horsebutt by showing exactly where the grain and density shift in areas that would normally yield Shell Cordovan. While difficult to work with, this has become one of our favourite recent materials and will debut on a new silhouette in Drop Four.
